How to Talk to a Child About Adoption: Infancy to 6 Years

Date: Saturday, January 27, 2007
Time:
10 a.m. to 12 noon
Place: IAC Center, 2 Tree Farm Road, Suite A200, Pennington, NJ

Session 1:

Speaker, Joni S. Mantell, LCSW

This workshop is for both adoptive parents of young children and pre-adoptive parents who would like to begin to learn about adoptive parenting and to meet the home study requirement.

You will learn how to begin talking about adoption, what their child can understand at these early ages, how to help answer their child's earliest questions about adoption, and how to create a safe, open family atmosphere in which adoption can be discussed. Resources and books for children and parents will be shared.

Joni S. Mantell, LCSW is a psychotherapist with a specialty in adoption since 1993. She works with all members of the adoption triad, and this helps her to understand adoption from the perspective of both the child and the parent.

Seating is limited. Pre-registration is required and should be completed at least one week prior to the event. Payment must be received in order to confirm your registration. Cancellations must be received at least three days prior to the event.
