Groups with Openings: Please email us at supportgroups@iaccenter.com or call 609-737-8750 if you are interested in any of the following Groups:

• Monthly pre-adoptive parents support groups – for couples and singles seeking to adopt. Groups focus on emotional and practical issues in beginning, waiting and succeeding with the adoption; and preparing for parenting. Groups meet once a month throughout your adoption process.  Each group has up to 6 members. We have openings or NEW groups forming in:
• Pre-Adopt Support Group: Domestic in Pennington N.J. from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month.
• 2 NEW Pre-Adopt Support Groups: International in Pennington N.J. The Monday group will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the second Monday of the month. The Sunday group will meet from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on the fourth Sunday of the month.
• Pre-Adopt Support group: Domestic and International in Summit from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on the third Sunday of the month.
• NEW Pre-Adopt Support Group: LGBT in Pennington from 7 to 8:30 p.m. starting Tuesday October 7 and will meet on the first Monday of each month after that.
• NEW NYC Pre-Adopt group is FULL but we are building a list for another group. Email supportgroups@iaccenter.com if you are interested.
• NEW Pre-Adopt Group in Bergen County, NJ forming for January 2009 and will meet once a month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on a week night to be specified.

Monthly Adoptive Parents Support Groups - If you are interested in any of these groups email supportgroups@iaccenter.com or call 609-737-8750.

• Daytime Adoptive Parents Support Group - In Pennington on the third Friday of the month from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This group discusses adoptive parenting and general parenting issues.
• NEW Daytime Adoptive Parents Support Group - In Summit on the third Monday of the month, starting October 20th from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
• NEW NYC Daytime Adoptive Parents Counseling Group -  for parents struggling with some aspect of their family life with their adopted child such as transition, adjustment, psychological or emotional issues, anger, discipline, sleep, sibling issues, etc.  Will start October 28th at a time that works best for most of the parents.  
• NEW First Year Home Group for International Adoption - New adoptive parents can discuss the adjustment to home life for both their child and themselves and learn parenting strategies uniquely designed for children who have had foster and/or orphanage care. Start date is November 16th from 12 to 1:30. We are considering having a babysitter based on expressed need.

• NEW Children's group forming for Fall in Pennington, NJ on a Friday from 5 to 6:15. Group will meet 6 times.
• NEW Teen group forming in Pennington, NJ on a Sunday in January 2009 at a time that works best for most of the teens.
• NEW Children's group forming for Fall in Colt's Neck, NJ on Friday October 17th from 6 to 7:15. Group will meet 6 times. This group is being formed in conjunction with the Monmouth/Ocean County Adoptive Families Support Group an adoptive parent formed support group.

• Archaeology of Adoption, an Exhibition for Korean Adoptee Artists at Gallery Korea, Korean Cultural Service 460 Park Avenue @57th ST, New York, NY, August 27 – September 24, 2008. • FRUA/ Families for Russian and Ukrainian Adoption NJ/Central South Conference on Tools for Creating Success: Helping the Internationally Adopted Child Learn -Saturday, October 4th at the Quality Inn Conference Center in Maple Shade, NJ.  Speakers include specialists in learning, native language loss, successful IEP processes, Fetal Alcohol spectrum Disorders, Sensory Processing, Trauma and Attachment. • New Jersey's 27th Annual Let's Talk About Adoption Conference - Saturday November 1st at Rutgers University, Busch Campus in Piscataway, NJ.  A range of adoption topics.  Joni Mantell will present 2 workshops:  "Attachment and the Adoptive Family: Focus on the Parent's Journey"; and along with IAC Center Counselor Lauren Scheiner, MSW "How to Help Children with Adoption Issues:  Ages 6 to 12."  Contact (973) 625-5628  and see:  www.cpfanj.org

• New Mom's through adoption and Baby group in Princeton area. This is a peer group formed by mom's who have been IAC Center clients and will become a play group once the babies are older.  They are welcoming other new mom's to join them.  Contact Dianne at: dcoles.ccg@mindspring.com
• RESOLVE peer-led adoption support group upcoming Princeton Area meetings: September 3, and October 1. This is a peer led group formed by a new adoptive mom and is a place to meet with others connected to adoption. Contact Susan Merkel susan.merkel@comcast.net
